Solid waste management

We advise clients across Africa on solid waste management projects that are environmentally compliant, commercially viable and aligned with the service delivery mandates of municipalities. Most are structured as PPPs with municipalities at the centre, and we support the full lifecycle, from feasibility and procurement strategy to risk allocation, licensing, contracting and long-term performance management, keeping projects affordable for end users and sustainable for the public sector.

Environmental Compliance

Solid waste projects need a suite of licences and approvals for collection, processing, treatment and disposal. We support clients in securing them, designing compliance-driven contracts and embedding environmental safeguards in project governance.

Waste-to-Energy and Hybrid Revenue Models

Technologies such as incineration can raise costs and strain municipal budgets, so many local governments turn to hybrid revenue models. In waste-to-energy, waste services are cross-subsidised by selling electricity to local offtakers, including the municipality itself. We advise on the structuring, regulatory considerations and commercial arrangements that keep these projects bankable.
