Infrastructure is the foundation of social and economic dignity. It determines access to clean water, reliable energy, safe transport, healthcare and education. When planned, procured and delivered responsibly, it expands access to essential services and supports human rights; when poorly governed, it can entrench inequality.
“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.”
— Nelson Mandela, Make Poverty History rally, London, 2005
